So bit of a strange title, but I had a need for this the other day.
I’m not the best looking rooster in the pen by far, but I like to think I am also not the worst (ROFL). Quite often though I forget to smile or get caught not smiling right when the camera goes off.
Just recently I had to submit a photo for a bio, the bio was for a company newsletter being sent out here in Australia and was for our new company site that offers Search Engine Optimisation
The only problem was that the photo was a nice photo, one where I just happened to be in a suite (its actually one I got taken at my wedding but without the flower piece) and of course I was not smiling.
Being determined to use this photo, and able to use Photoshop just a tiny bit (seriously I suck at graphic design) I though surely someone must have done this before.
A quick Google search came up with this tutorial, How To Photoshop A Smile, It took me maybe total of 5 minutes to find, after reading this article I decided it would not be too hard and I was willing to give it a crack.
Let me start by showing you the before and after photo’s then a few things to watch for.
Before
After:

As you can see the total editing was very small, but i think the end result was very good for the time it took and the fact that it actually gives a completely different feel to the image.
In total spent around 15 minutes on this including research time and actually implementing it.
One tip I do have is to follow the instructions and use a larger brush type.
Something that was not mentioned in the guide is the “pressure” that you can assign to the brush, I toned mine down to about 60%, as I feel it gave me an easier to handle tool.
All up it took me about 6 times using the undo feature to get it right.
Perhaps you will find a need for this also
Enjoy, and always keep learning.
