Daniel is the creator of Daily Blog Tips – a website nominated in 2007 for the “Best Web Development Blog” category at the Weblog Awards. According to Technorati, the site is currently ranked as among the 500 of the world’s most popular blogs. Meanwhile, the Advertising Age touts it as among the 100 of the world’s most popular marketing blogs.
He has also provided consulting services for numerous organizations and companies such as the United States Federal Government. He also founded Online Profits, an online marketing and business training program.
Considered as the blogging master, Daniel professes to be “lazy” as he confesses that he only works a total of 6 hours each day. However, his main strengths lie in his being disciplined and creative.
Before he went on the internet, he once worked for a consulting company and later on at a multinational company on the telecom sector. However, he found large corporations as too rigid and boring. It was at this time when he decided to quit. Also, he had already set up a few websites and blogs which were already gaining momentum. It was in 2005 when he began building blogs and websites.
Daniel took things as they come and paced himself appropriately. His short-term goal while he was starting out was to merely increase the traffic on his websites to reach at least the double digit rate per month. After which, he desired to create a community surrounding his blogs which would allow readers to participate.
When he quit his job, it was then that he set a long-term goal to begin generating a full-time online income merely from his sites.
Daniel explains that current web technology allows anyone to easily create a site using any functionality without having to learn fancy technical knowledge. He adds that he only knew HTML and web hosting. It was only later on when he learned MySQL, CSS and PHP, among others (though one need not learn this at all as there are a slew of qualified programmers out there).
While starting out, Daniel spent under $200 on ebooks and other learning materials. He also acknowledges Darren Rowse from Problogger.net as the person he has learned the most from.
His first online project is DailyBlogTips.com. The site initially started as a hobby where Daniel could share tips he had learned from doing his other blogs. When Daniel discovered that the site was receiving thousands of page views in one day, it was then when he invested a lot of time on it. It was also the time when he saw the numerous revenues generated from his blog. His happiest online moment came when one of his sites generated as much as 50,000 views in a single day.
So far, Daniel makes a good living on his Daily Blogging Tips blog thanks to his willingness and generosity to share his knowledge and insight at no cost.
Newbie bloggers would certainly find Daniel’s blog as a first-rate source of information as it provides various topics to allow anyone to convert their blog to a virtual art work.
His Daily Blogging Tips site provides info on blog design such as how to choose a good template as well as what to include and not include on a blog.
He also covers the basics of blogging such as how to avoid being stressed with outing blog posts. Information is also available on how a blog could be monetized as well as how to get people to go to your blog.
Basically, the vast amount of information Daniel freely provides on his blog is extremely priceless that it is equivalent to sites which charge hundreds of dollars for the exact same data.
Daniel admits that he has committed a few mistakes while he was just a beginner in online entrepreneurship. For one, he created a lot of projects which became too much to handle. He advises that one should focus his energy on specific projects especially if they desire to break out from the crowd. He emphasizes that one should always finish what you start. He also believes he should have invested more in domain names.
Despite his success, Daniel still considers himself a newbie. He explains that once he creates something that has an impact on the lives of people or when he makes his first million online, only then will he call himself an authority.
He does try to improve each and every day. He also makes sure he learns new things and experiment with various methods. In short, one must always “stay hungry.”
Daniel wants to impart the fact that success does not come from doing things better but in actually doing things differently. He explains that one should be honest, persistent and to always practice integrity.
When not online, the rest of Daniel’s day is spent doing sports.
