Ok, so in Marcs last post he spoke about how productive he has been, well, that’s great for him, and this is why having a business partner really kicks ass, when one of us is “unproductive” the other is usually at the top of their game, it means our business continues to move forward.
Am I saying that I have been unproductive? Yes and no.
For the last 2 weeks I’ve been editing 1373, 6 minute videos, yep, thats almost 140 hours of footage. Why haven’t I outsourced this? Because it’s one of those things that only I can do…
Now, for me, editing videos is the equivalent of vacuuming a house, I don’t just not like it, I find it boring, painful, mundane, and down right time wasting. BUT, and here is the point of my post, editing these videos that only I can do is going to create another arm to our business that should do another $100k+ a year (I expect more but I’d rather be conservative).
Without me doing this mundane painful task, our business wouldn’t be able to move forward, so I get it done, end of story.
I tell you this for 2 reasons.
1) Running a business isn’t all about high flying, deal making, jet setting fun, you gotta get your hands dirty
2) What are the mundane tasks that you are putting off that you really should be doing? Ask yourself that question, and quit putting it off. Period.
Sorry for the lack of posts, I have 109 videos left to do, until I can free myself up to work on some more enjoyable stuff!
