Hey Guys,
So who wants to know one of the best one way link building tools I have in my arsena, is free to use, and an absolute ripper?
Well CommentKahuna is from the guys that also created PortalFeeder. One thing that I have specifically liked about PortalFeeder are the tools that they have created for their members to use. Much like us they believe in providing all the tools needed to get the job done with efficiency.
One particular tool that they have and I just love is CommentKahuna. Now the thing is I have secretly been wishing that I could have given this away to my own members and people I speak with, but have instead had to revert to telling them about a different piece of public software since CommentKahuna was previously only available to PortalFeeder Members.
NOT ANYMORE
They have released a public version of the software, and even done some really really cool updates to it, also from speaking to Jason Katzenback (part owner of portalfeeder) they have even more planned for the software.
So what is so good about this software?
Well essentially it makes it really easy to find related blogs and posts on your topic, and then post comments on that post or blog about your experiences and in doing so gain a link back from that blog.
Now before it starts I can hear the questions already.
“Isn’t this comment spamming”
“Is this bad for the internet”
“Will my site get banned”
ABSOLUTELY NOT, If and only if you use it with integrity.
As with anything in life some things will be used for the greater good, others will be used for bad. What I suggest is the proper way to use this software and not abuse your rights or this software as a very effective tool.
It is something I would be happy to show my mum how to use properly.
In fact I did show someone who is not very technical minded, and certainly no “SEO Guru”
I showed my wife how to use it
See Jennifer (my wife) has a site on weddings here in Australia and wanted to increase her rankings for “Wedding Forum” so that she could build a forum and get her community a little more active.
There is already a base level of SEO done on the main page, but very little to no SEO done on her forum.
So I decided to show her how to use the software properly and let her do her thing. Apart from the fact that she has the luxury of being able to do anything she wants from home, it is the perfect thing for her to do whilst tuning out watching a tv show, just plod away on her laptop doing what she loves most, talking about weddings.
See when used correctly its just like partaking in a conversation, except CommentKahuna makes it 10x easier to find the blogs you are interested in, learn some information and give your feedback on the subject.
So now not only could my wife easily find sites on weddings she never knew existed, but now she can also become an authority in her field by giving back quality posts on these other sites, and build her rankings at the same time.
How cool is that!!!
So lets see her results.
- First off she posted on about 150 different sites (yes she is crazy for weddings)
- Secondly all posts were properly written on the subject, she really put thought and effort into giving back to the blog and community
- Thirdly she targeted her key phrases very specifically selecting the long tail keywords she wanted to rank for, or easy to target keywords (which is where I think the power really is)
- Fourthly she made sure all her posts meant something, not some generic random crap, but actually make sure you give back to the blog, this ensures more of your posts are accepted, and it ensures she gets traffic from the blog as well as builds her sites reputation in a good way.
As you can see from above, in this case we are tracking the triangular line not the square line (click on the image if it is a little blury for you to open up the full version).
The previous best position on December 3rd was position 28
Now on the 10th of December she is now position 15
Now for a decent keyword such as wedding forum, making a 13 position jump with some blog commenting in my opinion is a very good result.
And for only 7 days later, makes it an extremely good result. I would expect over the next few weeks for it to rise even higher with very minimal further work on her behalf.
Of course now she is addicted to quite a few extra sites and also using the software so is starting to target her deeper inner pages of her site using CommentKahuna.
The above example is just one example of this, I personally have used it to massive effect on quite a few different sites now.
What more can I say?
- Its Easy
- It Works
- It should certainly be a paid for piece of software but its not its free
- And it beats the pants of any other paid software out there currently.
Put simple go and grab it for free now by visiting
Remember always use this tool responsibly as it is a very powerful tool and when used properly has very large results as you can see above.
As always feel free to subscribe to this blog at the top right hand corner, and please leave your feedback on the software. I will pass all suggestions back to Jason myself.
Regards
Marc

I downloaded this software reluctantly, because I seem to leave these kinds of applications just sitting on my desktop, the icon resting idly, neglected and lonely.
I watched the video tutorial and actually used the software, and it seems like a great tool for SEO. Now, with this recommendation, looks like it’ll do good for my sites.
Does this software find the blogs that have a nofollow tag with them. It is pretty worthless to post on something that has a nofollow tag. Did they find a way to get around this???
Wow, this certainly does seem to be a powerful piece of software. I can hardly believe it’s free. I’ll be using it on at least one of my cooking sites to add a bit of sauce for the holiday season.
It will also provide me with a good way of getting involved with the active community of blogs in my niche.
Thanks for the heads up!
Hey Steve,
Yes it can find and filter blogs that only have nofollow tags.
And there are circumstances when posting on a nofollowed blog will help your rankings, that I will leave to those interested in experimenting

Marc
Hey Marc,
Thanks for the heads up on this one! I actually had Comment Hut on my Christmas list, but it’s coming off now…Take care,
Kyle
all it does for me is give me the follwing:
An Error Occurred
Notice:
Some required fields are missing:
Email Address

Please push the “back” button on your web browser to fill in the missing information.
I downloaded this a week or so ago and so far it hasn’t done anything for my sites. I’ve found that the blogs I get are either “oppposition sites” or sites like about.com and .org sites.
This is probably due to the fact that the majority of my sites are pretty much info sites.
I intend testing it out further on a couple of new sites so hopefully I’ll have the success from the software that it is obviously capable of.
Cheers
Joan
Thanks for letting me know about this, I’m sure it will come in very handy.

Hey Marc
I downloaded the software, installed it, registered my copy and then got my activation code. Then no matter how I put it in the boxes and it rejected them all. Then I got mad and became stupid and deleted the software and activation code. Now that Ive cooled down, I regret deleting it. Is there anyway I can get assistance with a new download and a new activation code?
I love the concept and even if this software does 1/2 of what is claimed it will be invaluable.
Good work!
Thanks for nothing, guys – all got was an email saying thanks for signing up and they will let me know when Portal Feeder launches again. Yet another guru honey trap and time waster … and yet another automated daily mailout to come about this and that I need to buy right now, no doubt.
like rod I got the “waiting list” email. Unlike rod, I suppose that it’s an honest mixup. Hope its soon, as I was eager to try it out.
Sorry if you dont see the value in a very powerful free tool. If you have a problem being on their list, just unsubscribe.
The fact remains this is an awesome piece of software and its free.
And that is all I have to say about that.
I know the majority will appreciate it as a tool and actually use it.
Regards
Marc
Nice post Marc.
The point is not the tool but the strategy.
The work can be better done directly in Google, albeit with less attention to page rank – according to my link building team.
Hi Marc,
Thanks alot….
It’s amazing tool that would skyrocket my backlink with quality and related site.
I love it so much….keep it up!
Thanks again!
And I’m in the unfortunate situation that the code they have provided me doesn’t work. I’ve even talked with their support staff and they don’t know what is wrong. I even tried with a second email address and the same happened.
I was really looking forward to trying out the tool.
Thanks for this Marc I like the way you can control what comes in. Will be even better when the no follow version is out.
I tried to watch the video and it wouldn’t load, so I went
straight for the download, and I kept getting a message that
I didn’t fill in my name and email (even though I did).
I guess I’m SOL
Hmm. Not totally impressed.
A lot of the supposed ‘nofollow’ disabled blogs have rel=’eternal nofollow’
Contrary to what the video says these blogs are very very rare (I know because I have a php script that’s been filtering results for a while now).
I’m working a Windows program that does the same job but it is slow – there’s no way around that.
The PHP version I have is faster and displays only blogs that 100% allow comments with ‘nofollow’ disabled.
I’m glad really that CommentKahuna doesn’t work properly because 1000+ bloggers hitting the handful of true ‘i follow’ blogs would reduce that number in no time.
For sure tho’, this does the same job as CommentHut and is $97 cheaper.
What’s the difference between this and Comment Hut Lite?
Thanks guys for the great tip. I have downloaded the software and it appears to be working fine. I have just started posting comments and look forward to tracking the results on a test case basis. If it appears to be improving my rankings. I will expand to more of my sites.
Hello Marc and Daniel
I tried to download CommentKahuna several times on different occasions but nothing happens !
Can you advise?
Thanks
John
Dear Marc ands Daniel
I have tried several times during the day to download “CommentKahuna” but nothing happens. Site doesn’t load. Just a blank screen.
Hope you can advise
Thanks
John Davies
I’m looking forward to see what enhancements they’re building in. Right now I’m actually finding more relevant blogs by doing a search on http://blogsearch.google.com.
What would be really nice in CK is the ability to sort the entries by published date (so that one doesn’t post comments on old posts), and the ability to exclude entries from a keyphrase search where one has already posted a comment on those entries (or have selected to skip them as not relevant).
It will also be great if you can tell it to use Firefox as its browser.
Hi guys –
Excellent resource – thanks! Those who had difficulty in signing up may be interested to know that I found that it worked by using the first (i.e. at the top) sign up form. The form further down the page does not seem to work in either IE or Firefox.
Remember, it’s the same light that shines through every window!

Hey Marc,
Thanks for the link to the program, I have been using it today and I have only managed to add comments to a handful of blogs. After trying lots of different but similar keywords the same sites keep appearing and some of which don’t even allow comments. Did your wife use the trial version for the 150 posts?
Hey Marc,
How did your wife get to do 150 posts with the search term wedding forum because I can only get 10 good blogs to post on and it is a much more popular search term.
Hi Marc
Thanks a lot for the offer of the download but I had already obtained it some days ago.
At first I was dubious……Who gives out a tool like this one for nothing? I’ve been conned many times before…..Download and wait for the sting in the tail. You know the routine, this is the Lite version and for $97 you can have the real program.
I had no problems downloading it and in no time I was posting away. Too soon to say how effective the results but if you are sensibly submitting comments how can it be anything other than beneficial.
The danger is to be over enthusiastic and spend long periods at it. I have been using the program for say 15 – 20 minutes in a session then it it is not another tedious task.
The software is fantastic and I agree it should carry a decent price tag….but what the hell….Christmas just came early!!
Regards
Chris
Just to answer a few questions.
1. How is it better then comment hut light.
Its entirely free, comment hut light has bugs for us where it wont even search, and I know for a fact that CommentKahuna is being updated regularily.
2. How did my wife find 150 sites to post on.
Well I am actually sure it is more then that but I toned it down so you guys didnt think I was hyping things up, I know how hard it is to believe anyone in this industry anymore. Basically she started with her seed keyword and then moved further and further out from that keyword going through all major keywords in the wedding industry.
3. How do I not waste time on this?
Just do it consistantly each day rather then all day. If you have only 1 hour then do it in proportion, spend 15 mins on it and 45 mins doing your other activities.
If you have all day then spend the time in proportion again. Work out what percentage of your time you would be happy with using.
Regards
Marc
Hi Marc
Thanks for this resource. Much appreciated.
One note though: You tend to say things like “it is more then that”, when what you actually mean is “more than that”. Sorry, I’m a bit of a proof reader.
Okay, now on to installing that software.

Morning Chaps,
Thank you for the link to the program. I had received notification from another source and had downloaded it. Your endorsement has spurred me on to start posting comments.
Simon
Hi again Marc
I have just received the email below that I am sure will be interesting. As you said this program gives regular updates and this is the second I have been sent. As you will notice they have dealt with the “No Follow” issue………..
THE EMAIL
You are receiving this email because you recently
downloaded a copy of Comment Kahuna v1.0
software.
Two VERY important things to tell you about
today…
#1. (Based on your suggestions) a new and
improved version of Comment Kahuna is here –
a no-cost download for you
#2. Haven’t been able to use Comment Kahuna
yet? Keep reading…
Since we released Comment Kahuna a couple of
weeks ago, things have been chaotic.
Our Help Desk has received a steady stream of
great comments and feedback. Thank you.
Everyone over here appreciates the kind words
And we want to keep making Comment Kahuna
even better (with your help of course).
So… based on dozens of emails that we have
received at the Help Desk, one thing was
VERY clear.
Comment Kahuna users (like you) also wanted the
ability to *only* find blogs that are NOT using the
“no follow” tag with the comments.
From a search engine standpoint, this give you a
big advantage.
So… our team got busy and we just added this
new feature for you!
(Sidenote: What is a no follow tag? Rather than
explain it here in detail, go Google “no follow tag”.
Wikipedia is a good source too.)
To download Comment Kahuna v2.0, hit the link
below:
http://www.portalfeeder.com/CommentKahuna/commentkahuna.zip
We hope that you like this new version.
>> Are you still waiting for an unlock code?
You see, it looks like some email providers are
blocking our emails. So, a bunch of people never
received their unlock code to enable Comment
Kahuna.
If you are still waiting, please go to our Help Desk
immediately. Submit a ticket and we will get you
set up asap with an unlock code.
http://portalfeeder.helpserve.com/
We apologize for any inconveniences this may
have caused you. It’s frustrating waiting for an
unlock code that never arrives via email.
Please go to the Help Desk right away (while it’s
on your mind), submit a ticket, and you’ll be all set.
We hope that you like using Comment Kahuna
version 2.0!
Jason Potash, Marc Quarles, Jason Katzenback
& The Comment Kahuna Team
END OF EMAIL
Anybody that does not take advantage of this offer can’t seriously be interested in IM.
Cheers
Chris
Hi Marc
A fellow aussie here. I have found Comment Kahuna to be useful in finding blogs that relate to my keyword. I even got a link on a PR5 site. The comment about sorting by when the post was written would be useful as today I was finding blog posts from 2005. Probably not worth posting on something that old.
regards
Rob
Hi Marc,
Thanks for your recommendation.
In fact I downloaded it a couple of days back, but did not bother to install it. Ok, i guess I better dust it off and do something with it.
Cheers.
Hi Marc:
Had some early trouble getting everything downloaded, thanks to Jason for his help.
I spend about 15 minutes a day sourcing blogs to post comments on. In that time I have to look at 5-8 blogs to find 2-3 to make posts. My plan is to keep at it for 30 days which should equal about 100 posts.
If productive in my one site, I’ll give it a go on my other four sites.
Overall I’ve found it to be a great resource, and if used regularly, I’m sure all my rankings will improve.
John
Hi Marc,
I think this is very useful. Cuts out a lot of the slog, and I particularly like the way it takes you straight to the blog. What a timesaver!
Lyn
http://www.SpainHereWeCome.com
I found Comment Kahuna does NOT filter out the blogs with “no follow” tag on.
Although it provides a box for you to check/uncheck, I find it searches a lot of WordPress.com sites – which ALL have a “no follow.”
So I doubt it is really as effective as it is claimed to be.
But, still it’s free, I guess.
Marc:
Good information-I have downloaded the sw and am using it, although I prefer some other tools.
A question-On the post you show a screen dump of the graphics behind a search engine ranking tool-What tool is that? I have been using SEO Elite, but I was wondering what tool you are using?
thanks,
–nick
LeRoi, proof read as much as you like mate, perhaps you will help me improve my writing skills. It’s a good thing I do not write our content. If English were the strongest of my skills I would most likely proof read others also.
Instead I suffice for paying to have it done where needed
Someone else asked what software I was using for SEO ranking reports etc.
This particular software is called Advanced Web Rankings and is an extrodinary piece of software. I should do a blog post on it actually as it is a ranking reporting/tracking tool that I could not do without.
Much more powerful then anything else I have seen on the market.
Regards
Marc
Wow, wish i would have visited this earlier. Great comments and I just sent my programmer to this page. Thanks for the ideas and reports of issues.
Sure CommentKahuna is a useful program and yes there are alternatives such as blogsearch from Google or simple try this search ["keywords go here"+"leave a comment"-"nofollow"]
This commenting tool really works wonders! Thanks for sharing it.
Hi Marc,
Thank you for your recommendation. Yes I downloaded it a last month but have not got the time to post my comments on any blog, maybe it’s time I allocate some time doing it.
One more thing, do you thing jennifer will be interested to exchange link with me?
cheers
i want to use it too. bad news > waiting the unlock code.
